Ok, after church on Sunday we were home relaxing and enjoying our time together when the conversation turned to hairstyles. I admit to being totally and completely inept at hairstyling- probably a side effect from spending so many years as a tomboy. But my husband, bless his heart, actually took cosmetology in high school. So he starts bragging about the hairstyles he could do... and of course Aimee and I have to put him to the test. (Keep in mind that it's been over 15 years since he was in high school.) I decided to go first (having gone through this torture before.) He did a funny french braid that Aimee described as looking like rabbit turds. Not a pretty mental image, but if you had been here I can almost guarantee you would have been laughing too! I gave up the stylist's seat (otherwise known as the carpet in front of the futon) and let Aimee have a go. David is not known for having a gentle touch as a hairstylist and there tends to be a lot of pulling and yanking as he braids. Aimee was unaware of this fact before she sat down, but very quickly was looking like this:
I'm thinking that maybe I should have my husband torture (uh.. I mean, do my daughter's hair) more often- these are some of the funniest candid shots I've gotten of her in a long time!! To prove that I really am the most loving and supportive wife, I actually conceded to let him do one more french braid on my hair. Unfortunately Aimee didn't bother to grab the camera and get a shot of me in pain. She waited until my turn in the torture chamber was up, decided to do my makeup, and then started snapping silly pictures of me. Sooo... just to prove to everyone that I'm not always serious...
So much for striving for a highly spiritual blog! I hope everyone else has had a good dose of silly lately too!!

Love it!! You and Jamie are more brave than I when it comes to posting fun and silly pictures. I guess I could put up a few silly pictures, too. Thanks for the inspiration. I needed some light-heartedness!
I'm impressed that David can do braids. I'm not sure James would have the first idea of where to start. But I would have to say, that I think James has a much gentler touch than I do when it comes to doing hair.
"My, Patty, what an interesting face you have."
"All the better to make you laugh, my dear."
Somehow, that didn't sound the same in my head (funny) as it does when I read it (almost mean). Please remember I think you are a beautiful person, so take it as it was meant to be given. *grin*
I love the look on Davids face--Pure concentration !!!!
You know, I think that David could set up a beauty shop with Steve. Steve has a secret talent for (don't tell anyone) painting fingernails. In fact, I have some pretty good pictures of him painting Allison's fingernails. I'm saving them for blackmail.
Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. I must admit, Mark does a mean ponytail. I guess that's what happens when you grow up between 6 girls!
HAHAH too funny. From what I can see David does a pretty good job of braiding! I'm going to send my girls to your house when I am out of town, have David fix their hair and send em off to school. (can he match clothes as well?!?) You should see it when Michael sends them off...In Brianna's famous words, eye yi yi. Not pretty!
THanks for sharing!
