Blessings in the Midst of a Family Storm

Having a family member attack you and your family members for things they perceive as having happened 15, 20 and even 35 years ago is a blessing. Some of you may be saying "what?! how?" but really... the blessings are there if you look for them!

Not only does it give you the opportunity to take a step back and look for any of those things they're accusing you of so that you can improve, but it also helps to develop much stronger bonds within our family. Nothing quite like having to defend against such an unwarranted attack to bring you together with a common purpose. It's also a blessing to us to be given the chance to practice forgiveness- and that isn't easy! The sad part is that there will be no resolution to this until/unless that family member can let go and forgive also.

You are amazing to see the blessings in the midst of such an attack.

It wouldn't be easy, but I like the idea of stepping back enough from the situation to evaluate your own role in the hard feelings.
