Recent Insights

These are just a few insights I've had as I've been reading in Moroni lately:

Moroni 7:6 (For behold, God hath said a man being evil cannot do that which is good; for if he offereth a gift, or prayeth unto God, except he shall do it with real intent it profiteth him nothing.)

It's not enough for a man/woman to live their religion on the outside, or do things because it's what looks right. If you haven't changed on the inside and have the right intentions then you're missing out on reaching your full potential and you don't profit from the growth that God intends for you.

Moroni 10:7 (And ye may know that he is, by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore I would exhort you that ye deny not the power of God; for he worketh by power, according to the faith of the children of men, the same today and tomorrow, and forever.)

Don't deny the power of God. It's how He works. And only through faith can we have access to His power. Believe in it and you'll see it.

Moroni 10:9-10 (For behold, to one is given by the Spirit of God, that he may teach the word of wisdom; 10 And to another, that he may teach the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;)

I thought it was interesting that being able to teach knowledge and wisdom are two separate gifts of the spirit. It really makes sense, though. Think about some of the teachers you've had who have taught you some bit of knowledge (reading, math, science, etc.) Then think about someone who has taught you a life lesson. Huge difference!
The way I see it, knowledge is information to be learned. Wisdom goes a step further. Wisdom is truth learned and applied. It's that extra step of making a correct choice because of the true knowledge you have that gives a person wisdom.
To be able to teach at all is a gift, but to teach wisdom- that's priceless.
