I'm certifiably insane... please have me committed!

We now have 3 humans, 5 cats and 1 dog. Yep... I gave in to my husband and daughter and we now have a dog in residence also. Welcome Zoey. Thankfully they found a nice small to medium sized dog who was already house-trained and well behaved.
This is not the first time we've tried to keep a dog, so we'll see how long it lasts. For the dog's sake I hope that she's a keeper. It's not like I don't like dogs- I just prefer them to belong to someone else! Every time we've gotten a dog it just reinforces the fact that I am a cat lover. I understand cats and enjoy their independent natures. I don't understand dogs and their insatiable need to be around someone at all times. I just don't get that (it probably doesn't help that I don't feel the need to be around other people all the time myself!)
Some of you may be wondering how our five cats responded this intrusion on their space. It wasn't pretty! Apparently we have 3 bullies and 2 more tolerant cats. Our one indoor/outdoor cat was in the backyard when we let the dog out and literally chased her around the entire yard! I've never seen a dog running from a cat, but it is one of the funniest sites I've ever seen! (I know, that's kinda cruel, but it's along the same lines as laughing at videos of people hurting themselves.. except the dog wasn't hurt, just scared.)
Inside she didn't fare much better. My two boss cats, Buddy and Bear, both decided that they had to show the dog how things are run in "their" house. She has been chased by both numerous times already. Silly dog keeps going back for more though so I'm guessing she's not as intimidated as she acts. Thankfully they are to the point that they can all be in the same room and as long as the dog doesn't move towards one of them everyone is fine. We're all hoping that they figure out their places in the next week or two so we can enjoy peace again. On the bright side, we were able to leave Zoey in the house while we were at church and nothing was destroyed when we got home. (I'll admit I was a little worried about finding the dog pinned down and being beaten by the cats!)
So now it's definitely official- I'm certifiably insane and am just waiting for the men in white coats to take me away. Hey, I'll bet it's real peaceful in one of those padded cells....

HAHA can you please ask them to stop and pick meup on the way out with the white coats?!?! And tell 'em to make mine XXL please! I want to hug myself in my much needed silent cell.. I just want to be comfy while I am doing it. And I betthose padded rooms are sound proof as well. hmmm I wonder if I would get teh same effect if I stapled pillows to my BR walls?!?

I wonder if they would let us rent one of those rooms.. we could reserve it for one day a month! Maybe two or three if the PMS or our crazy lives are getting out of hand!

Sorry, you aren't insane. My neighbors have 5 dogs...big dogs. And you know what, they aren't insane either.

I have a couple of birds you can add to your growing zoo.
