Hi, my name is Patty... and I'm a bibliophile!

Yep, I LOVE books. Everything about them. I love to look at the cover and read the description, I love the texture and feel of the many types of paper the pages are made out of. I love to put a book up to my face and breathe in the smell of paper and ink, and I love the way I can be transported to another time and place by the words of someone with an incredible imagination. I love reading about the lives and experiences of others. I love visiting the library and coming out with a nice stack of books, even when I know deep down that I'm probably not going to get every single one read! (I don't waste my time with ho-hum books... there are way too many really good ones to bother with those others!) I love wandering the aisles of the library and letting a book call to me, or sometimes going in search of something in particular and finding more than I thought I wanted! I love hearing of good books from my friends, and I love sharing the ones that inspire me. If I was rich, I would have a whole room full of books, every size, shape and type imaginable! But, alas, I don't have the money or the room for such a luxury... so I keep visiting the libraries (plural!) and feeding my addiction for the printed word in an inexpensive and non-fattening way!
Isn't it an amazing blessing to be able to go to the library and pick out books on any topic imaginable? I am so thankful for living in a country where we are free to read anything, and are even given the education to know how to. I even love it when I've chosen a book that I start reading and realize "oh... this isn't something I want in my head!", because at least I had the freedom to pick one out, even if it did get returned without being read! What a blessing that even those who don't have the opportunity to go to college can read, explore, study, and continue learning. How great is that??!!
And to top it off, we have the most incredible books ever printed. Right here in our own home. We don't have to travel to church to have them read to us. We don't have to memorize only certain passages because there aren't enough copies to go around. We can pick them up any time of the day or night! What an amazing time to be living in! We have the teachings of Jesus Christ at our fingertips! WOW!! It really doesn't get any better for a bibliophile who also loves the gospel! I'm in seventh heaven!

Oh My Gosh!!!!! I know I always want to pick up a book to read it(not on a screen with no pages). Right?
Hey- I grew up with a library in the house-(my parents changed the art studio into a library-it's still filled with books today). This is how Mom filled our lives with books- she went to book sales. The local libraries had annual book sales and she could buy anything for a couple of bucks. She always went with a list-Art books for her, Mysteries for me, novels for my sisters, architecture for my brother. I sometimes still collect Cook books (even though I don't cook). Sorry I went on so long- this really spured some old memories. Love Ya Bookie Girl!!!!

Me too, me too! I'm a book addict. When I was a kid, my friends used to get a kick out of the fact that I would get grounded from reading. There is something so wonderful about entering a new world when you open a book.

I love to read your posts! You are a deep thinker and a spiritual giant! Thanks for sharing.

Oh, by the way, I think you can get help for this addiction. The Church has an addiction recovery program for just about any addiction. I know someone who could set you up with an appointment with the Bishop. ;)
